Lake Shelbyville Painting Tainter Gates

Project Details

BCI Construction, the prime contractor, successfully completed the Shelbyville Lake Dam project in Shelbyville, IL. This comprehensive endeavor involved structural weld repairs, media blasting, and painting of the 44’x40′ tainter gates. From conducting meticulous mag particle and ultrasonic weld inspections to meet D1.5 standards, to replacing defective knee braces and reinforcing trunnion connections, BCI Construction demonstrated their skill and expertise. They also ensured the gate’s durability by removing existing anodes and installing new ones. The project culminated in complete media blasting and 5-E-Z painting of the gate, encompassing 1,760 square feet and executed with full containment.
