Project Manager (PM)
Location: Belleville, IL 62220
The Project Manager is responsible for the implementation and execution assigned projects; from budget and scheduling stage to final punch list and completion, purchasing and field execution.
80 to 100K commensurate with experience & qualifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Provides overall management and administration for all assigned projects to ensure the successful completion of the projects safely, on time, within budget, to the satisfaction of the owner and engineers
- Assists in, or provides overall account management for assigned accounts
- Provides assistance in engineering, estimating, business development and procedure documentation on an as needed basis
- Maintains positive client relationships to leverage future repeat business
Technical Responsibilities
- Maintain Project Schedule utilizing Primavera P6 Scheduler.
- Identify and communicate project milestones, critical path and status to the Site Superintendent, BCI Management and Customer.
- Working with Project Engineer process, review and transmit review all submittals.
- Develop project budgets and maintain project budgets.
- Conduct monthly project cost review to include forecasting, budget exceptions and opportunities
- As required provide input to subcontractor selection, management and coordination.
Critical Competencies
- Monitor all construction activities and hold all accountable on construction site to both the project and BCI quality programs.
- 5+ years’ Project Management experience required; previous experience in a Superintendent role a plus.
- Prior project management experience with projects of $1 to $10 (plus) million involving some or all of the following: site work, foundations, structural steel, utility installation, excavation and subcontractor management preferred.
- Extensive knowledge of construction principles/practices required
- Willingness to provide onsite project management and supervision for projects at remote locations on an as needed basis
- Able to identify project impacting critical issues and challenges
- Ability to negotiate with and manage sub-contractors and/or vendors
- Ability to read, understand and interpret contract documents, drawings, specifications, scopes of work and project schedule
- Thorough understanding of schedules, project budgets, submittals, change orders, and job costing Ability to work under pressure
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to be able to effectively communicate and coordinate with the field supervisory staff, field engineers, subcontractors and vendors
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office computer applications, Scheduler Software and AutoCAD
Qualifications/Criteria
- Physical Demands: Exposure to heavy construction environment all physical demands of the site not limited to the following; Able to lift 50 lbs, work at heights, climb stairs.
- Education/Experience: Four year degree, or equal exposure in the specific field; Six years in the field or completed entry level training program (7200 man-hours) or proven track record in Project Management. Engineering or Construction Management Degree a plus.
- Travel: Ability to work out of town for multiple weeks at a time. Ability to travel at least 25% of the year.

Position Overview
BCI Construction in Belleville, IL is seeking an experienced and versatile Project Engineer/Estimator to join our growing team. This role is ideal for a motivated individual who values variety and thrives in a smaller organization, gaining exposure across multiple functions in engineering, estimating, and project management. You will be instrumental in supporting project execution, from estimating to completion, while working closely with a dedicated team on unique projects nationwide.
This position offers the opportunity to work on diverse projects at hydroelectric facilities, lock and dams, and spillways for clients like Duke Energy, PG&E, US Corps of Engineers and Bureau of Reclamation. Candidates with a Civil or Mechanical Engineering degree (or a highly experienced Designer) who bring strong technical skills and a desire for broad project involvement will excel in this role.
Key Responsibilities
- Project Estimating & Bidding: Assist with estimating and bidding on projects, transitioning from bid to proposal development within tight timelines. Collaborate with the lead estimator and other team members to ensure accurate project costs and effective bid strategies.
- Technical Drafting & Design Support: Use AutoCAD and MicroStation to create technical drawings for project means and methods. Communicate effectively with external engineering firms to review drafts and convey BCI’s project needs and designs.
- Project Execution: Actively participate in project planning and execution, attending project sites as needed (10% travel) to monitor progress and ensure specifications are met. Engage in all project phases from start to finish for complete project exposure.
- Specifications Review & Document Control: Analyze project specifications and drawings, ensuring project adherence to technical requirements. Maintain organized project documentation and manage technical writing tasks for proposals and reports.
- Critical Thinking & Problem Solving: Apply critical thinking to identify project challenges and work collaboratively with the team to implement effective solutions.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with contractors and BCI’s internal teams across engineering, estimating, and project management. Flexibility to support IT tasks is a plus.
Qualifications
- Experience: 5-10 years in the construction industry with a focus on machinery design, structural steel, civil, or mechanical projects.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering preferred, or extensive experience as a Designer.
