Project Details
Refurbishment and upgrading of an existing 300-ton Gantry Crane to a 350-ton Gantry Crane was undertaken at Wells Dam in Chelan WA. BCI was contracted by REEL-COH, who had been contracted by the Douglas County Public Utility for the fabrication and installation of the New Gantry Crane. Project highlights included the removal of the existing 300-ton trolley, installation of a new 350-ton trolley weighing 125,000 lbs, removal of the old operators cabs, installation of a new operators cab with structural support, removal of the existing ladders and handrails, installation of new platforms and a staircase for easy access, installation of new storm brakes, and replacement of the existing gantry drive motors and gear boxes with new ones. The cranes were load tested to 125% of the 350-ton capacity.
