Initiative Notes | Manager Notes
Enrique has shown a great deal of initiative though-out his first year with the company and has worked to improve our work flow and documentation in respect to estimating and bidding tasks. His methods of breaking down the bid documents are very organized and have helped in ensuring that our team can quickly access important information regarding the bids that we are working on. This has been a much needed hole that needed to be filled. He has taken some initiative in helping to develop a handoff strategy between estimating and project management which has needed to happen. Hopefully this process continues to successful working template for handoffs. Some of the time it seems that he is spending to much time on non critical aspects of his work but this is improving with experience. We need to work on understanding the sequencing of various tasks in order to properly develop high level work plans and anticipate requirements for bid pricing. We have had some situations where simple additions that we have discussed frequently were not added to bids ahead of reviews slowing down the process. He needs to spend some time reading and understanding the high level technical writeups included in proposal prepared by others so that he can generate and modify these types of high level writeups in future proposals.
He has a good understanding of our bid process at this point and is doing well keeping up with the various bid sites and solicitation updates and making sure that we are kept up to date with what is changing.

Trust & Respect Notes | Manager Response
Enrique has been very dependable and respectful to all of his team. Although he does not always make to the office by 8am he is one of the last to leave every day. He seems to be balancing his grad school and work relatively well and has kept us informed when he needed to leave early or come in more than a few minutes late. We have had some issue of providing incorrect information when asked specific questions regarding various aspect of his work. It seems that he sometimes he either tries to answer too quickly without thinking the questions through completely or making sure he fully understand what is being asked. There have been multiple instances when we have had to verify information he has provided due to inconsistent responses. I believe that this is just a matter of slowing down and ensuring that we are all on the same page and understand what is being asked prior to responding. I would rather him say "I do not know for sure but let me find out" than have an incorrect answer.

communication Notes | Manager Response
The work that Enrique has done with coordinating our bid documents and extracting bid information into an easily reviewed form for the team has been outstanding. We are becoming more efficient at breaking down bids as we get used to the new processes.
I feel that Enrique could improve on his listening skills from a couple of perspectives. First, he at times will try to answer a question before someone has completely articulated what they are wanting to know. Trying to anticipate what someone need is great but he seems to get locked in on what he has anticipated and not responding to what they really need.
Second, at other times he seems to either not understand what is being discussed and does not ask for clarification prior to responding. This at times leads to confusion and bad information being exchanged. I attribute these situations to his eagerness to help and add value to the team which are exemplary traits. He just needs to make sure that he is fully comprehending what his team is discussing or asking ahead of his responses. This will help insure that he is providing helpful / useful information and improve his knowledge of the process and work.

Job site flow Notes | Manager Response
Enrique is doing very well in following and improving the estimation and bidding process. The tools and documentation techniques he has developed are making us more efficient and less likely to miss dates and critical information during the bid process. He continually improves at reading and understanding the various types of drawings that we regularly encounter. He is very good at getting estimates setup and tracking subcontractors. I would like him to be more complete in entering some of the more mundane yet critically important elements into winest. Also he needs to begin critically thinking though the entire project work process and attempt to estimate what total hours and schedule will look like as detail come in for the various aspect of bids.

Leadership Notes | Manager Response
Enrique seems to be ready and willing to take the lead with a number of tasks that have been assigned to him. He has been good about taking our needs and helping us fill the holes in our process. He has been very good at working through difficult situation where miscommunication and other circumstances have provided for very stressful situations. He has responded well to criticism and is able to move forward to improve himself, those around him and the company. He is ready and willing to lead meetings and take point when required. I would like to see him more engaged in technical conversations during bid meetings. Adding value when appropriate, but more so attentively listening and asking more questions to insure an in depth understanding of the topics being discussed. I believe it will be beneficial to begin using the MS Teams Transcriber to take meeting notes so that Enrique is less engrossed in documenting what is being said but instead putting his energy towards digesting the information and asking questions.
