Headworks Intake Lifting Equipment Replacement

BCI Construction was the prime contractor for this project, involving the replacement of headgate hoist machinery and controls at the Dale Hollow, Wolf Creek, and Center Hill Dams in Tennessee and Kentucky. The scope of work included the removal of existing equipment and the installation of new 20 ton, 112 ton, and 250 ton head gate hoisting equipment, which encompasses structural frames, hoist drums, sheaves, wire rope, gear reducers, brakes, motors, limit switches, position sensors, slack line indicators, and anti two block devices.

Additionally, load testing of all hoist assemblies was conducted, and hoist covers were replaced with new watertight aluminum housings. Furthermore, head gate control panels was replaced, and new pendant operation controls were installed.

The project also entailed providing new head gate machinery lighting, replacing head gate power feeders, and supplying new wiring, conduits, and materials for wiring the new equipment. Lastly, new grating was provided and existing handrails were modified.
